2014: The Year of the Hornet

Rare is the sort of unconditional love and undying devotion that was once the hallmark of the relationship between the Queen City and her Hornets.

Night after night, year after year, "The Hive" was alive; impassioned Beelievers wreaked a unique aural havoc upon all who dared to enter that hallowed hall. From the 20-win seasons of Rambis and Tripuka, to the genuine Eastern Conference contenders of the late 1990's, this city; this jewel of the New South; provided both the NBA and the nation at large a perfectly-executed blue print of the power of civic pride.

"Bring Back the Buzz" is a grass-roots campaign to bring back the name that means so much to this city and the fans who remember the magic that eminated from the hive. General Cornwallis awarded us the title of "Hornets Nest" after the citizens of this town fought for their freedom and what they believed in after the Battle of Charlotte during the Revolutionary war.

Again, we found ourselves fighting for what we believe in, an identity that can only be understood by those of us who have lived in this ever-growing city.

The time has come. The Charlotte Hornets are coming home!

Sun, 09 Feb 2014 03:39:07 We met with the VP of Marketing for the Bobcats (Seth Bennett) to discuss whether we could use “Bring Back The Buzz” on our merchandise. Apparently someone in the NBA doesn’t like the fact we use “Back The Buzz” in our name even though we came first. We are not trademarked because it was about […]

Thu, 06 Feb 2014 00:51:06 As most of you know, I (Scotty) teach Middle School at OLA (Our Lady of the Assumption) in East Charlotte, the very same august institution that Evan and I attended when the Charlotte Hornets became an essential part of our lives. Today, OLA students were lucky to have the wonderful Diana Rugg(who we have established […]

Is Big Al an All Star?

Tue, 04 Feb 2014 14:38:53 When the 2014 NBA All-Star rosters came out, fans of the Bobcats immediately noticed a glaring omission: no Al Jefferson on the roster. While it came as a shock to not see Al on the roster, was it our bias towards the Bobcats, or did the coaches make a mistake by not allowing Jefferson to […]
